WHAT IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

Laser hair removal is a laser spa procedure that removes unwanted hair from various areas of the body. Common treatment areas include legs, bikini line, underarms, and upper lip. However, it is possible to treat nearly any body area, except the area surrounding the eyes. Areas with tattoos or open wounds should not be treated with lasers.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

During a laser hair removal treatment, a laser emits a concentrated beam of light that is absorbed into the hair’s pigment. When applied, the light energy is transformed to heat, which damages the hair follicles that produce hair growth. After multiple treatments, your hair follicles are injured to the point where they stop growing hair.

What Should I Expect During Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is quick and easy. First, we thoroughly clean the treatment area and place protective gear over the eyes. Then, a technician uses a small wand to apply several light pulses to the treatment area. The session can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, depending on the size and hair condition of the treatment area.

Most people do not experience adverse side effects after a laser treatment. While some people may have temporary redness or irritation, it should subside in a few days. Most people require six treatments to experience an 80% reduction in hair. While laser hair removal is permanent, more treatments may be needed in the future to maintain optimal results.

Includes from top of forehead to jaw line, Glabella, lip, chin and ears.

Neck

Includes front and/or back of neck. From the jaw line to the end of the neck and/or hair line to end of neck.

Chest

Includes from the collarbone to the beginning of the underwear line. Includes stomach. Does NOT include shoulders. The Naval Strip would be included under full chest.

Back

Includes top of the edge of the back of shoulders down to the underwear line (lower and upper back) Does NOT include glutes, on top of the shoulders or front of shoulders.

Underarms

Includes just the armpit. Does NOT include all the way up the inner arm.

Upper Arm

Includes from the above the collar bone down to elbows. Includes top of shoulders. Does NOT include below collar bone or top of back.

Lower Arm

Includes from top of elbows to fingertips. Does include hands. Does NOT include above elbows.

Brazilian

Includes 4 fingers out from the underwear line on legs, everything on top of the brazilian, mons pubis, labia and inside the anal strip. Does NOT include full glutes or naval strip or anything further than 4 fingers outside on the upper leg.

Glutes

Includes full buttocks cheeks and inside the anal strip. Does NOT include lower back or upper legs.

Upper Leg

Begins at knee and Includes up to the Buttocks and 4 fingers away from underwear line. Does NOT Include below the knee or bikini line.

Lower Leg

Begins at knee and includes tops of feet and toes. Does NOT include anything above the knee.

FAQ

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Most people do not experience discomfort during laser hair removal sessions. However, others report a slight pain with each laser pulse. The discomfort is temporary and subsides after the light is taken away from the skin. We apply a cooling agent before the treatment to minimize any pain during the session.

How long is a laser hair removal treatment?

Treatment times vary by the treatment area and how much hair is on the skin. Each session can take between 15 minutes and an hour.

Can I resume my everyday activities following a session?

While there is no formal recovery process, you may experience temporary redness or irritation in the hours after treatment. This discomfort typically disappears within a few hours. You can return to work or resume your everyday activities immediately after the session.

You should avoid excessive sun exposure in the weeks following treatment, as UVA and UVB rays can increase the risk of irritation or hyperpigmentation. If you must expose your skin to the sun, apply sunscreen with an SPF of 40 or higher. Additionally, do not exfoliate or aggressively scrub the treated area with a topical cleanser in the first few days following treatment. Instead, use a gentle cleanser and avoid scrubbing the area.

Are the results permanent?

After six or more laser hair removal treatments, most clients experience an 80% reduction in hair growth. This change is permanent. Most people experience smooth skin in the treated area for several months following a session. Maintenance sessions may be required to touch up problem areas or to permanently remove thick, dark hair.
