Your Skin Routine to Help With Utah’s Dry Air

There’s nothing worse than cracking, flaking, and peeling skin when the seasons change and the air is dry. Suddenly, your supple skin looks like a desert, and it feels like it’s impossible to moisturize enough to keep up. Depending on the extent of dry skin, it can even become painful and start to bleed. This can make any regular activity uncomfortable and potentially embarrassing.

Whether you’re on a mission to keep looking young as long as possible, or you’re simply tired of dealing with rough skin when the seasons change, you’ve come to the right place. The team at Haus of Aesthetics has advice for you – things you can do both at home and at a med spa to transform your skincare routine.

Home Remedies for Dry Skin

If you incorporate a few things into your regular routine at home, eventually, you’ll find the tricks that work for you. Everyone’s skin handles dry air differently, so it’s worth testing things out and experimenting with options until you see what you like.

Some of our favorite tips for keeping your skin hydrated at home during the cold, dry months include:

  • Take warm showers, but don’t let the water run too hot
  • Always apply moisturizer after washing your hands, showering, bathing, etc.
  • Pat your skin with a towel to retain moisture instead of air-drying
  • Layer hydration, starting with gel moisturizer while the skin is damp and a heavier cream when dry
  • Add fish oil to your supplement intake daily
  • Invest in a humidifier for your bedroom
  • Drink more water than you think you need
  • Regularly apply a mineral sunscreen instead of a chemical product
  • Consider a water softener to remove drying minerals
  • Exfoliate your skin so it can absorb moisturizer without debris blocking pores

Of course, it’s not always possible to fully hydrate your skin at home. Sometimes, we need a little extra help that can only come from a professional setting.

Laser Services are Perfect for Fall Weather

The same concept of exfoliating your skin to create a good surface for hydration at home applies to laser services, especially when autumn comes around. The fall and winter months are the best time of year to schedule laser facial treatments because the sun’s UVA rays are the lowest.

There are several reasons to avoid too much sun both before and after any sort of laser treatment, such as:

  • How Laser Services Work – Lasers are most effective on lighter skin with darker hair because the laser targets dark hair pigments. If the skin is too tan, it’s harder for the laser to treat hair growth.
  • Skin Sensitivity – Lasers help the top layer of skin peel away to reveal fresh, clean skin. This leads to transformational results, but you need to give your skin extra care as it heals. The new skin is likely to be more sensitive, and sun exposure can heighten this sensitivity, darken the skin, and potentially cause photodamage or hyperpigmentation.
  • Laser Services Remove Sun Damage – If you love spending time outdoors and your skin shows it once summer is done, this is the best time to reverse dark spots, wrinkles, and fine lines.
  • Results Take Time – To achieve the optimal results you’re looking for with lasers, you’ll need to schedule multiple treatment sessions and leave time for changes to show. Planning your first sessions in the fall gives your body enough time to transform by summer.

For example, the CO2RE laser resurfacing treatment uses your body’s healing abilities, working above and below the surface area of the skin to make microscopic wounds that trigger the healing process. As your skin heals, your body produces collagen and healthy skin cells for visibly better results.

Laser-treated skin tends to remain extra sensitive for a few months, so fall and winter are unofficially known as laser season. It’s so much easier to stay warm and cozy indoors when the weather is cold and dry, giving your skin a rest from harmful rays.

HydraFacial Deeply Cleans & Moisturizes

We often have patients asking whether Hydrafacials are worth it. As an exfoliating, cleansing, and moisturizing facial, there are just as many benefits for men getting a Hydrafacial as there are for women. The reason for the hype is that professionals use advanced technology with Hydrafacials, which means they provide better results than your average facial.

The exfoliation is superior to other treatments, and any serums used are customizable for your goals. You’re not receiving the same facial as the next patient because your Hydrafacial treatment is entirely personalized.

As your Hydrafacial treatment happens, you will be able to see the dirt and debris that is exfoliated and cleared from your skin. A fresh, clean layer of skin will be visible and carefully nourished with hydrating ingredients.

How often you get a Hydrafacial depends on your individual skincare concerns; the best results are seen with a consistent routine every four to six weeks. If you’re consistent about your skincare and include regular Hydrafacials, you’ll start to see a noticeable improvement in the size of your pores and the state of your skin.

Hyaluronic Acid Injections Hydrate Skin

When you think of dermal fillers, you likely associate them with adding volume to the treatment area. But fillers are hyaluronic acid (HA) injections, and they serve more purposes than filling in space or lubricating joints. HA is an acid naturally found in the body that is meant to nourish the skin; dermal fillers provide additional volume and hydration in areas that are lacking.

Age, lifestyle habits, and hormonal fluctuations all contribute to the elasticity of the skin, not to mention the weather changing having an impact on your body. Fillers help fight the signs of aging, adding much-needed hydration for a supple, healthy result. Say goodbye to dry, cracked skin!

Microneedling with Radiofrequency

It’s true that RF Microneedling tightens, lifts, and plumps the skin. It’s also true that the radiofrequency energy and micro-needles signal your body to produce collagen.

This new, collagen-rich tissue tightens skin for a result that:

  • Minimizes scars
  • Reduces wrinkles
  • Reduces oil production
  • Eliminates acne
  • Shrinks stretch marks
  • Improves skin texture
  • Minimizes pores

But it doesn’t stop there. RF Microneedling also rejuvenates and hydrates your skin after the treatment is complete.
